The McKenzie Lake property owners asscotiation (McKLPOA) Environmental Committee recognized the need for a lake plan back in early 2004. It took several years for members to understand what a lake plan is and to agree to embark upon its development. In 2006, many members along with the committee began the journey and accepted the challenge. 

The outcome of that initial research and surveys of members overwhelming responded with they want to keep the environment and environment healthy and natural.

This current plan is a summation of information gathered from members from 2006 up to 2022.

PURPOSE

As stewards we will act conscientiously to promote:

• Heathy water quality;
• Rich fish and wildlife habitats;
• Responsible recreational enjoyment;
• Environmentally sustainable development and property maintenance;
• A friendly and open attitude towards neighbours and community; and
• Peaceful enjoyment of the lake and area for each resident maintained for present and future generations.

SCOPE

1.1.2 The lake plan is intended to cover in scope various key areas which our surveys and member interaction have identified as either should be monitored, or of great value to the vision of the area. These are in no particular order:

Natural Environment

Water Quality and Levels

Hunting and Fishing

Land Use nad Development

Emergency and Municipal Services

Social and Recreational Activities

1.1.3 While the plan identifies the greater watershed of McKenzie Lake and area, the current content focuses on McKenzie Lake and it's immediate surroundings.
