About...
Cross country ski trails have been groomed by property owners for many years, in fact, we don't really know exactly when it started but it's suspected to be over 10 years ago. The first to cut trails was Jim Saul down the logging access road beside the old dump location. This has been the classic trail for years.
Later it became more popular, and more skiers became interested. Now there are 3 main trails, club events, joint trail maintenance efforts, and meetings with the LCC group to coordinate with logging and access road maintenance (culverts left etc).
Today there are three property owners with groomers and the club has official trail signs and maintains 3 trails with over 18 km of round trip distance.
Ski conditions and grooming is updated in the talk forum so everyone can quickly see trail status, etc.
Go to the Club Forum Here4.7.1 Moore Creek Trail
Moore Creek Trail is a 5.7 km round trip trail with a mix of flats, ups and downs and is generally wooded on both sides of the trail. The entrance starts the laneway before the old McKenzie lake dump and heads towards Taylor Lake, ending at the top of the hill. It's a road which services one cabin down on Moore Creek, and then turns right to head back into the woods where it ends in a turn around. This trail has been maintained for several years and is well used by many skiers.
4.7.2 Turf Lake Side Trail
The Turf Lake Side Trail is a recent addition in 2019/2020 during the COVID years to expand the skiing off the common Moore Creek trail for greater distance and a wonderful change of scenery into denser wooded areas and marsh. An offshoot from the Moore Creek trail, relatively flat with a novice skill rating. The trail twists and winds its way through the woods with a few challenging spots and only moderate grade hills.
4.7.3 Wicklow Lake Trail
Wicklow Lake Trail is a 11km round trip look (out and back same trail), or you can come back on the general snowmobile trail it exits on to. The trail head is at the top of the hill along the snowmobile trail just past Norm's (about 800M up the hill). The trail winds through the bush from there towards Wicklow Lake, and running along Wicklow creek before rejoining the snowmobile trail on the Chainy lake side close to the bridge. This trail has significant elevation changes and challenging spots but is amazing! This trail may or may not be regularly groomed due to it's size and maintenance requirements.
